Belarus draw Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Albania for 2020/21 UEFA Nations League 2020/21

The 2020/21 UEFA Nations League draw was made in Amsterdam on 3 March, BelTA has learned. Belarus will play Kazakhstan, Lithuania, and Albania in Group 4 of League C. 

In the EUFA Nations League first season Belarus progressed from League D to League C. Holding on to this success, Belarus keep alive the chances for reaching the final stage of the European championship. 

To make this happen, Mikhail Markhel's team need to beat Georgia in Tbilisi on 26 March and then in Minsk defeat the winner of North Macedonia v Kosovo encounter on 31 March. 

Other groups of League C of the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League are as follows: Group 1: Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Montenegro; Group 2: Armenia, Georgia, North Macedonia, Estonia; Group 3: Moldova, Slovenia, Kosovo, Greece.  

Group matches are scheduled for September-November. The winners of the four groups of League C will advance to League B next season. Tow worst-performing teams will relegate to League D. 

The same playing scheme will apply to Leagues A, B, and D. The two best teams of the groups by the end of the UEFA Nations League second season will continue their campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup spot in Qatar. 

The matches to qualify to the 2022 FIFA World Cup will take place in late March 2022. The UEFA Nations League maiden season was won by Portugal who beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the final. Bronze went to England who defeated Switzerland.
