Domracheva: A perfect ending to a challenging seasonIt is a perfect ending to the challenging season, Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva said at a press conference held after her victorious Mass Start in Tyumen, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian biathlete told the media how she managed to surpass four rivals after the final shooting range.
“The gap was small. I have braced up and showed my best in the final meters. Two victories in Tyumen. It is a great result. The season, however, could have ended better. For example, my third place in the World Cup Total Score. It would be greater if it had been first,” Darya Domracheva said.
The four-time Olympic champion added that she was in a good form from the very start of the season, but she had to change the ski brand.
“The season had a number of difficulties. Now, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen and me are going to Norway to spend some happy family days together,” the Belarusian said.
Darya Domracheva has now matched with Magdalena Neuner of Germany in the number of the World Cup victories – a total of 34 wins each.
The season's ending, following the Olympic Games in PyeongChang, was very successful for the Belarusian athlete.
She won the sprint in Kontiolahti, was second in the sprint and won the pursuit in Norway's Holmenkollen, and completed the season with two wins in Tyumen.
Darya Domracheva placed third in the World Cup Total Score.
